Examples
For all examples the template code on the left displays as shown on the right.
Example 1, basic demonstration
| Translations of this is a title | |
|---|---|
| English | example-1 |
| Sanskrit | example-1 (IAST: example-1) |
| Pali | example-1 (example-1) |
| Glossary of Buddhism | |
Self-explanatory.
{{Infobox Buddhist term
| title = this is a title

| sa = example-1
| sa-Latn = example-1
}}Example 2, Pali-parameter title demonstration
| Translations of if "title" is blank or absent, this is the title | |
|---|---|
| English | example-2 |
| Sanskrit | example-2 (IAST: example-2) |
| Pali | if "title" is blank or absent, this is the title (example-2) |

Listing a title may not be needed.
{{Infobox Buddhist term
| en = example-2
| pi = if "title" is blank or absent, this is the title

| sa-Latn = example-2
}}Example 3, Sanskrit-parameter title demonstration
| Translations of "title" and "pi" are both blank so now "sa" is the title | |
|---|---|
| English | example-3 |
| Sanskrit | "title" and "pi" are both blank so now "sa" is the title (IAST: example-3) |
| Glossary of Buddhism | |
This example shows what happens if no English or Pali translation is provided. It also shows what happens if you list a transcription without filling in the main language parameter (ie. nothing, the template ignores it).
{{Infobox Buddhist term
| title =
| en = example-3
| pi =
| pi-Latn = this won't display because "pi" is blank
| sa = "title" and "pi" are both blank so now "sa" is the title

}}Example 4, English titles
| Translations of if the title is in English "en" is unnecessary | |
|---|---|
| Sanskrit | example-4 (IAST: example-4) |
| Pali | example-4 (example-4) |
| Glossary of Buddhism | |
The "en" parameter can be left blank or omitted if the English translation is the title, however, if there are multiple English translations which are in wide circulation it may help to list them under "en" with only the single most relevant translation being listed in the title.
{{Infobox Buddhist term

Although order is irrelevant for how the template displays, it is polite to leave things in order so editors can more easily change whatever needs changing.

}}Example 7, two ways of Wiki-interlinking
| Translations of Four Noble Truths ~ Example-7 | |
|---|---|
| Vietnamese | Tứ Diệu Đế (Chữ Nôm: 四聖諦) |
| Glossary of Buddhism | |
Interlinking non-English language Wikipedia pages can be done by directly specifying the language and page title of the desired destination article with "[[:eg:PAGE TITLE|EXAMPLE]]" where "eg" is the letter sequence specifying the language in the URL ("en" for English, "ja" for Japanese", "zh" for Chinese, and so on).
Interlinking to Wiktionary can be done with "{{linktext|EXAMPLE}}".
In this example the modern Vietnamese links to the relevant article on Vietnamese Wikipedia, while the traditional Chữ Nôm example links to Wiktionary. Interlinking is unnecessary but may be helpful on pages where the English-language Wikipedia article is a stub but where the corresponding article on another language Wikipedia is more informative.
