This template adds the article to Category:College football bowls. Those bowls which are defunct are instead added to Category:Defunct college football bowls.

Guide

In example,
location	Type the name of the location where the game is currently played. Wikilink the name of the city, avoiding redirects and disambiguation pages.	Pasadena, California
previous_locations	Type the name of the locations which have played host to the game. Wikilink the name of the city, avoiding redirects and disambiguation pages. After the name of the city, type the year or years when the game was played there. If a bowl is played at some location other than its normal location, why? Add a
years	List the years the bowl has been played. Make sure you use " — " (not " – ") for spans of years. Separate sets of years, or individual years with <br>. If the bowl is still being played, add "present" as the second part of each set of years, no link. Use game dates, not season dates.	1902<br>1916 — present (Note that the first game is listed as being played in 1916, despite it being part of the 1915 season)
champ_affiliation	List any affiliations the bowl has had with a championship series. For most bowls, this field will be left blank. Past championship series are Bowl Coalition, Bowl Alliance, and BCS. The current (as of 2020) championship series is CFP. Please list by football season (e.g. January 2015 should be considered part of the 2014 football season)
conference_tie-ins	List current conference tie-ins, if known. Separate the two conferences with a comma. Wikilink each conference to its un-redirected form, piping the link for how the conference is known today, or its acronym. If the game has an at-large team (such as the BCS), note the selection process for selecting those teams. If the game is a BCS game, note that the game may lose conference champions to the title game. Make sure you use " — " (not " – ") for spans of years. Separate sets of years, or individual years with <br> .	Big Ten, Pac-10
previous_tie-ins	List previous conference tie-ins, if known. Separate the two conference tie-ins with a comma. Type the years when this conference tie-in applied. Wikilink each conference to its un-redirected form, piping the link for how the conference is known today, or its acronym. When listing conferences here, list defunct conferences when they were in existence, even if the conference which succeeded the defunct one is listed in either conference tie-in section. Make sure you use " — ," not " – " for spans of years. Separate sets of years, or individual years with <br>.
payout	List the current payout for each team, if known. DO NOT add any currency formatting, as this has already been done. Only type the number of dollars. Do not write any other words after, such as "million" or "thousand." However, list (and link) the year in which this payout applied. Link the year as 2006 so that this payout can be updated each year (this will look like 2006). Has the payout changed? List any other payouts, if known. Separate this year's payout and previous years' payouts with <br>. Cite a source which lists payouts. Make sure you use " — ," not " – " for spans of years. Separate sets of years, or individual years with <br>.	17,000,000 (2006)
sponsors	List the current and former sponsors of the game. Link to the sponsor's Wikipedia article. Red links are acceptable, though some discretion should be used if it looks like no Wikipedia article will ever be written on the subject. List and add the years when each sponsor had naming rights. Make sure you use " — " (not " – ") for spans of years. Separate sets of years, or individual years with <br> .	AT&T (1998 — 2001)<br> Sony/2 (2002)<br>citi (2003 — present)<br>
former_names	List the former full names of the game. Link to the sponsor's Wikipedia article, if applicable. Red links are acceptable, though some discretion should be used if it looks like no Wikipedia article will ever be written on the subject. List and add the years when each sponsor had naming rights.	Rose Bowl Game presented by AT&T (1998 — 2001)<br>Rose Bowl Game presented by 2 (2002)
prev_matchup_year	The year the previous game took place (may be different from season if the game is on or after New Year's Day).	2006
prev_matchup_season	Season to which the previous game belonged.	2005
prev_matchup_teams	Add the previous year's matchup. Include rank, if applicable. In order of preference, the link should go to: The year's football team article The school's football article The school's athletics article The school's page	Texas vs. Southern California
prev_matchup_score	The score of the previous game. If this creates a link to a disambiguation page, do not fill in this line; instead, put the link and the score at the end of the previous line.	41-38
next_matchup_year	The year the next game takes place (may be different from season if game is after New Year's Day).	2007
next_matchup_season	Season to which the next game belongs	2006
next_matchup_teams	Add this year's matchup. Include rank, if applicable. In order of preference, the link should go to: The year's football team article If the year-specific link does not exist, use cfb link to automatically display the most appropriate link in the following order: The school's football article The school's athletics article The school's page	Michigan vs. Southern California The links for Michigan would be as follows: 2006 Michigan Wolverines football team This template will automatically select the most appropriate link from the following: Michigan Wolverines football Michigan Wolverines University of Michigan
next_matchup_date	Date of the next matchup; do not include the year.	Jan 1
preceded_by	If the game was preceded by another game, this is the place to include that information. (See BCS National Championship Game and College Football Playoff National Championship for examples of games that were preceded by other games.) Note: This is different than "former names".
succeeded_by	If the game was succeeded by another game, this is the place to include that information. (See BCS National Championship Game for an example of a game that was succeeded by another game.)
